❓ How to get the best offer for the certified translation, and get your official documents translated at best price?

✅ Answer: Get 3 price changing Tips from our certified French translator Tetyana Britelle:

  • 📝 Order the translation of several documents at once to take advantage of our package offers (from 2 documents and more).
  • ⚠️ Don't wait until the last moment! Urgent certified translation is more expensive than standard one!
  • 💬 Consult our translator to determine whether a paper version is required for your case or if an electronic translation will suffice. ❓ Question: What comes first – getting an apostille or having an official translation of a document ?

✅ Answer: You must first obtain the apostille and then proceed with the official translation. For documents issued in France:

  • Civil status documents (birth, marriage certificates) – the apostille is issued by the Court of Appeal (Cour d’Appel).
  • Notarial documents, court rulings – the apostille is also obtained from the Court of Appeal.
  • Administrative documents (diplomas, certificates) – the apostille is provided by the relevant Prefecture.
After the apostille is obtained, both the document and the apostille must be translated by a sworn translator.

For a foreign document to be legally valid in France, do I need to find a certified French translator ?

Yes, a sworn (certified) translation English to French is required if you intend to submit your documents in English to official French institutions.

  • The document must bear the date, the certified translator's signature and stamp, and the words "Translation certified as true to the original".
  • Here is a list of documents that are affected by this requirement:
  • - Marriage and Civil Status Certificates
    - Academic Records and Qualifications (e.g., university certificates, diplomas, transcripts)
    - Official and Administrative Attestations and Certificates
    - Criminal Records
    - Contracts and Agreements
    - Property Records (e.g., deeds of purchase, deeds of sale)
    - Driving Licences
    - Documents for Legal or Public Institutions (e.g., courts, city halls, or other public bodies)
    - Judgments and Legal Decisions
  • Please note that in certain cases, it is necessary to have your document legalised through consular legalisation or to obtain an authenticity stamp (apostille) to certify the document's authenticity. These procedures must be completed before the translation can be carried out!
